LO2: Evaluate Personal Qualities and Resources Available
Personal Characteristics -
To go forward in this career as Graphic Designer I will need to look at how I look at my self. These include things such as Motivation, enthusiasm, resourcefulness, Social skills (teamwork) and an eye for design. I believe that I already hold some of these traits and will strive to possess all of these. I feel that I am a very passionate person that always tries to complete tasks to the best of my ability, especially when it comes to media based tasks I believe that my enthusiasm helps me to overcome any problem that I could potentially encounter. Media is a heavily team-orientated work environment, I believe that I work well with other people and would fit in with any project, I am comfortable in a leadership person and would not hesitate to help out others in difficult situations and try and propose solutions. I also pride myself on my time management and also organisation skills and as the media industry is very deadline focused I believe that I would not have a problem. Looking 10 years down the line I would like to be a designer at either a national company like the BBC or independent company what are very creative and contemporary.
Skills -
The skills needed to be successful in media include being technically competent, knowledge of Adobe programmes and also an eye for designing. I believe that that I have knowledge in all of these areas. I have previous knowledge using Adobe's creative cloud particularly on programs such as Photoshop, Premiere, In-design and Dreamweaver however as they are so extensive there are definitely room for me to learn more and as a result I will be practising using these programs to further improve my knowledge. As for designing for the past two years I have created products such as posters, membership cards and a magazine, these have definitely helped me learn conventions of certain designs and how to spot them and utilize them in my own work, I believe that in order to move onto a higher level of designing I should definitely keep practising.
Relevant Achievements -
So far I have only got a Pass at AS Level. I also have a one year experience working in industry, I was a in house Graphic Designer as Rottweiler Productions. My roles at this company was too create Logos, adverts, banners, wireframes ect. I would say this gives me a edge over other people my ages as a lot don't have industry experience already.
Experience and Interests -
In my spare time I enjoy staying connected through the use of computers and being on a digital platform. I have a strong love for manipulating graphics using both
Adobe programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and InDesign, these tools allow me to create anything.
My Hobbies: For the past 4 years I have Thai Boxed, this is something that builds character and teaches good morals. This also helps me keep in shape which is also a good thing. Since September 2016 I have work behind a cocktail bar, this job has created a passion for alcohol and how to mix it. More specifically I like trying new interesting beers and looking at the brewing process to achieve how favours in the beer.
